Registration of a Domain Name provides you with a permanent Internet address which will never change !

There are presently three recognized top-level domain designations in the USA (TLD's):

• .COM
• .ORG
• .NET

We suggest you consider your domain name carefully and register in all three top-level categories to protect your business investment. Registration is FREE when you host with our alliance partner, St. Louis Internet. If you prefer to host with another ISP the annual charge is $20 per domain and may be registered here. PAI does not charge any additional fee for renewals.

There are new top-level-domains (TLD's) which will be released early in 2001. We highly suggest the registration in all TLD's possible for your domain name and will inform all our customers when these TLD's are available for registration.

Registering more than one domain name may also provide you with enhanced visibility in the search engines. For example: One company registered 10 variants of their corporation name using hyphens and mixing up the name to include products they sell. This afforded them the ability for PAI to submit their site to the search engines appearing as ten different entities -- a much better chance of gaining visibility, traffic and sales !

When you are spending thousands on a complete web site, $20 per domain (or FREE when you web host with us) per year becomes pocket change when you consider the rewards. Keep in mind that PAI charges you only once for complete web-site design and those charges do not multiply when you have more than one domain name pointing to the original domain (there is a $5/month domain hosting mirroring fee which may apply).

PAI takes care of all the paperwork to get your domain name registered - or transferred from an existing ISP if you have already registered it yourself. The $30 setup fee is waived for customers who have an existing, live web site and are moving it to Public Access Internet, Inc.

All domain names are registered to you, and we are listed as the contact for those domains. The title and ownership of your domain name always remains with your company.

Think about your domain name(s) carefully. We highly recommend your corporate/business name and/or product branding. Many names are already taken, however, the creative use of variants and hyphens within a domain name is a popular substitute if the name(s) you want are already registered. Regardless of the name(s) you choose, the marketing of your site is most important to achieve visibility on the Internet. If no one knows your "name" is on the Internet, no one will visit your site !
