Due to our extensive monitoring system we know within ten minutes of any failure affecting our own equipment and that of our pipeline providers. Our engineers are on-call 24 hours, 7 days a week to repair any problem that may arise.

DIALUP - Analog to 56k Speed

56k users please make sure your modem is running the latest firmware code. For firmware updates please visit the web page of your modem manufacturer and follow the instructions for downloading and installing the latest firmware.



DIALUP - ISDN

ISDN users please note the connections are 64k (single-B channel).



EMAIL

  • POP3 (incoming) Mail Server: mail.public-access.net
  • SMTP (outgoing) Mail Server: smtp1.public-access.net
  • IMAP is supported
  • Using an EMAIL address other than your own will cause your messages not to be delivered

FTP

  • FTP Server: ftp.public-access.net
  • Your "Home" directory is "\" followed by the first part of your dialup logon name.
  • Your web page address is: http://www.public-access.net/<logon-name>/
    • Where <logon-name> is the first part of your dialup logon name



PASSWORDS

  • Passwords are case-sensitive.
  • All usernames and passwords are ALWAYS in lowercase characters.



SECURITY

If you are an ISP needing to report a security violation or a law enforcement agency needing immediate assistance please EMAIL security@public-access.net and include complete information pertaining to the incident. For critical issues such as denial of service attacks please call 314-215-4161.

Technical Information:

  • DNS Servers NS1.PUBLIC-ACCESS.NET, NS2.PUBLIC-ACCESS.NET (207.150.138.2, .3) only respond to UDP DNS requests (specifically, all other incoming traffic, including ICMP, will not be responded to on these servers)
  • NETBIOS is restricted to rulesets and will not respond to unknown hosts
  • SMTP and POP3 servers will not respond to ICMP requests
  • SMTP servers only process EMAIL for our customers and will not relay mail from foreign hosts or users, unless such EMAIL is destined for our customers
  • All unauthorized access attempts on all services are monitored and logged
